Be Sure To Take Garments Out of Plastic Bags Before Storage !!
With summer quickly approaching, we want to get rid of our 'cold weather' clothes and store them in a clean, safe place. When doing this, be sure to remove the plastic covering from each garment. The clear plastic bags that your clothes come in are there to protect your newly dry cleaned attire from the outside world. However, when they are on for too long, the plastic will have an adverse effect on your garment.

The plastic bag does not let any air into, or out of the garment. It traps the air inside, causing a moisture build up. This excess of moisture around your garment accelerates the oxidation process- and even causes once invisible stains to reappear. Basically, if a garment is unable to breathe it may in a sense, 'self destruct.' Spots could appear, streaking might occur and your favorite item may be ruined.

There is also a process known as fume fading that might take place if your garments are not allowed to be 'free'. When gases are trapped in a closed area, a change of color may occur. Although this process does depend on the fabric and color (rayon, blues and greens are most susceptible), it is a very important concept to be aware of when storing your valued garments.

So, what should you do? If you want to protect your stored clothes from airborne particulates, the solution is simple: Take an old cotton sheet and drape it over your stored items. The cotton protects your clothes and more importantly, lets the garments breathe. Another solution, especially if you are running out of space, is to bring it to us. We promise to give your clothes perfect care and just the right amount of air.
